Departing Ensenada

I'm finally underway again.  I was planning to leave on Friday to get going. But, as luck would have it, the fuel dock was out of diesel and was execting the delivery "sometime" on Friday.  I decided to wait until today to leave so I could top off my diesel tank which should allow me to get to Cabo without needing to get suspect fuel at any of the small towns in between.

I went out to try to get pizza at the Cervezeria Trans Peninsular on Thursday night before the planned departure only to find the place dark and locked. So I got an uber and went to the main port area and got a nice pizza at a place called Gepettos on the main street near the Malecon. It was nice. If I come back this way and stop I'm going to try their lasanga next time.  I guy has to have goals after all. With the delay I got to go to Trans Peninsular as well! So it must have been a sign that today was the better day to leave...

The fuel up this moring was painless, 50 gallons at about $5/gal. I think I paid $8/gal when I fueled up before departure. I'm just passing between Isla Todos Santos and Punta Banda to get out in the open ocean and turn a little more south. It is a lovely sunny clear day and is pretty warm.  The sea is very calm so far and there is only 5kts of wind. So for the moment I'm a motoroboat...

This leg is pretty fuzzy as far as plans go. I am shooting for Mag Bay which could be about 5-6 days depending on the wind and my actual speeds. If it looks like weather will be  a problem I'll stop at Turtle Bay on Monday night or Tuesday.

I'm a little apprehensive heading out with this much unknown, but I guess I will have to learn to adapt to the uncertain lifestyle that is cruising sooner or later. It will just have to be sooner!
